Google's Schmidt to Colbert: Comment About Kids Changing Their Identity 'Was a Joke'
Google CEO Eric Schmidt was on “The Colbert Report” for a “Google Chat” last night. As Stephen would say, “At least that’s what it said when I looked it up on Bing.”
Colbert and Schmidt discussed data mining, why Stephen doesn’t get more hits when searching for “tall women carrying heavy things,” why Google pulled out of China, privacy, and how low Google’s stock prices will have to go before they throw out the “do no evil” slogan. During the interview, Colbert also brought up Schmidt’s recent controversial suggestion that young people will someday have to change their name to distance themselves from embarrassing content on social media sites.
“It was a joke,” Schmidt said. “It just wasn’t very good.”
