If you’re a creative graphic designer with animation experience in the Bay Area, Google may have an opportunity for you. On Monday, the tech giant posted an ad for a new Doodler, the person behind for the ephemeral, often-interactive graphics on the search engine’s homepage.
Google Doodles change on a daily basis, often corresponding with noteworthy events or anniversaries for that particular day, such as holidays, Election Day, birthdays of famous people such as musical instrument maker Bartolomeo Cristofori, and meteor showers.
The product graphic designer’s chief responsibilities include pitching, creating, collaborating and iterating on homepage art. Google, which receives 2 million resumes each year, is also looking for a strong multi-tasker and communicator with experience in at least two of illustration, graphic design, character animation, motion graphics, 3D modeling, game design and prototyping.
Since 1998, when the first-ever Google Doodle depicted the Burning Man festival, there have been more than 2,000 Doodles, many of which only appear regionally. In Cameroon today, the Doodle depicts fireworks in honor of the African nation’s independence day. The last American Doodle appeared on May 13, celebrating the 127th birthday of Danish seismologist Inge Lehmann.
