Google Blogger Interface Gets a Much Needed Facelift

Google has announced that Blogger will roll out major changes sometime in 2011.

Blogger, ranked as the sixth most popular website in the world (by Alexa), has had many updates in 2010, few of the notables related to the administrative interface. The new update will bring a major overhaul to the user interface, based largely off of the Google Web Toolkit, which uses Ajax-enabled drag and drop features.

Another big announcement is the new content discovery feature. A user will be given recommended readings and posts, based off of the post you are reading. Depending on the blog post you are currently reading, the new Blogger will associate topical keywords and display the matches in a drop down menu. A glorified “similar posts” feature, if you will.

Now, the only major feature request left is native applications for mobile devices. Blogger has the ability to post via SMS or MMS, users can publish posts via texting or email. However, an official app for the iPhone is still unavailable. An official Android app was released just last month with a warm reception.
