Will Facebook New Questions Feature Lower Search Volume?
Facebook launched their new Questions feature Thursday and one has to wonder if this could have an impact on search volume. The product is different from most Q&A products in that you get to ask your friends directly – so you know the people at Google will be looking at this new potential diversion from search.
“There are a lot of places you can go on the internet to ask questions of people who you don’t know, but there are very few places you can go to get responses from your friends,” said Adrian Graham, a project manager for Questions told Mashable.
Will Facebook New Questions Feature Lower Search Volume?
Facebook sees it as a place to share what you know, learn from your friends and see where people stand. The questions can be seen by your friends but when they follow or answer all their friends see it too. How much volume this takes away from basic search queries will have to be tracked but it does seem like it could impact Google and the other search engines.
