Google Calendar: Missing Data Fiasco Finally Resolved
Imagine logging into your calendar to check your agenda for the day. When you login you see absolutely nothing — no events, no calendar entries, or notes. That’s exactly what happened to numerous Google Calendar users today.
Several reports were submitted earlier today about missing data in Google Calendar. Not just an entry here, or an entry there, but the entire calendar was completely blank. Even though this was slated to be a temporary issue for a fraction of the users, the thought of all my events disappearing is a very scary thing to think about.
There is always the chance that something like this happens when it is cloud-based, but then again, when it is cloud-based, you can be fairly certain it will only be temporary.
Google was quick to note the problem existed and said it was only happening to .001% of users. Not that announcing that eases the burden for the .001%, but it may have helped put things into perspective for everybody else.
Of course, there’s lots of Twitter buzz still happening and in the Google Calendar forums.
At 10:25 am, Google announced the issue should be resolved for all users.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.”
Users are slowly posting to Twitter that their calendar data is back. If you are still experiencing this problem, be sure to head over to the Google support forum for assistance.
