SearchDay: Red Riding Hood Edition - May 24, 2011

There's no such thing as a parallel universe on the internet. Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Bing target type-in traffic about SEO. Porn site page rank explained. Windows phone gets fruity update. Google gets wind. Yahoo mail finally out of beta.

Nothing epic today, such as the end of days, which has now been pushed back to October 21st 2011.

Unless you are talking about Eric Schmidt’s clash with president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy. The latter showed contempt for the laissez-faire attitude of tech entrepreneurs. “The world you represent is not a parallel universe where legal and moral rules and, more generally, all the basic principles that govern society in democratic countries do not apply… You can’t be exempt from minimum rules.” Which draws a hilarious parallel to SEOs and webmasters’ relationship to Google. Maybe Sarkozy feels the internet is spamming democracy with freedom? Rather than improve the internal algorithm of the political system, it would rather levy penalties. Talking of which… have you seen that JCPenney profits are up?
