Bing Explains Yesterday's Blackout
Yesterday, Bing went down for about 30 minutes between 6:30pm and 7pm PST. Microsoft’s Senior Vice President of Online Services, Satya Nadella, took to the Bing Search blog to explain:
The cause of the outage was a configuration change during some internal testing that had unfortunate and unintended consequences.
As soon as the issue was detected, the change was rolled back, which caused the site to return to normal behavior. Unfortunately the detection and rollback took about half an hour, and during that time users were unable to use bing.com.
Nadella went on to say that they’re reviewing what went wrong in order to prevent a similar incident in the future.
The only question now is, “What did you see in your FlashForward?”
