According to reports, Google has been testing specific search terms that display desktop results in an updated format.
Instead of seeing a Google carousel atop desktop search results, users are now seeing a display that more closely mirrors mobile results.
Google’s carousel of results for desktop searches especially applies to things like restaurants, hotels, and the like. Below is an example of desktop results when searching for the term “Minneapolis Bakery.”

In other words, the information is essentially the same, it is just more pleasing to the eye and easier to navigate.
