Bing has announced a large maps update, including so-called Streetside imagery and additional 3-D cities on the Bing Maps Preview app.
Are you looking to visit a new city or maybe just take in the scenery from a location on your bucket list?
Bing’s new Streetside imagery and 3-D cities are making all of that possible with a few clicks of a mouse or taps on a smartphone.
Take in the View, Streetside
Streetside imagery is exactly what it sounds like. The images displayed make it appear as if viewers are standing on the street looking at a particular destination. This feature is available for both Bing Maps and the Bing Maps Preview app. Below is an image of the aptly named Chicago Theatre in Chicago.
Taking 3-D National
Users of the Bing Maps Preview app can also view more than 125 cities in 3-D.
Unfortunately, as of August 25, this app is only available for Windows 8.1 users.
One of the examples provided by Bing was of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s clear the image is not an actual photo – notice no cars on the road – but the Aria Resort and Casino and other attractions are still visible.
International Hi-Res Access
Bing has also upped its aerial game. Users can view high-resolution aerial shots in more than 150 countries. This is accomplished through the use of aircraft-mounted cameras.
A consumer preparing for a trip to Mexico, for example, can take a sneak peek at Cancun, like the one below.
Do you think there is an opportunity to begin integrating Bing’s new map views as a part of your digital marketing strategy?
