OK..

Will someone please define the difference between

New Posts
Today's Posts
Active Threads
Top Threads

I know it sounds simple, but I wish there was just one list in order of last updated.

New Post -- Anything new since the last time you came. Helpful except if you come and leave suddenly or your cookies get screwed up.

Today's Post -- Your friend. Your buddy. Your pal. Always shows you the last posts in a 24 hour period. Exceptionally useful if you want to see New Posts and for some reason, the system things you've already been here recently. Downside? Say you visit on a Monday after a weekend. Today's Posts shows you only through the last 24 hours while New Posts will go further. My tip? Always try New Posts first, then try Today's Post just in case New Posts gets a bit crazy.

Active Threads: Hell, I don't know. It's a standard option, I think it shows the most recent threads that have had replies in a certain period of time, sorted by most replies first. I never use it. Elis, any thoughts on that one?

Top Threads: You rate good thread using that Rate This Thread feature at the bottom of the threads, right? Yeah, no one does. But if people did that more for good threads, then a thread gets more points and starts to make it to this screen. So start rating threads. I expect an entire market of paid thread rating to begin shortly.

FYI, we'll move to the new version of the forum software probably in the next 4-6 weeks. When that happens, we'll then have a harder look at maybe changing some of the sorting and display options. Until then, Today's Posts is your friend, your buddy, your pal.

'Active Threads' are the current threads with the most activity i.e. the most replies.

I always start with Today's posts, as Danny suggested. If you are in here several times a day, the system even bolds the ones you haven't looked at.

And here I was thinking it would be a death match or something...
