Looks like the relationship with Channel 7 in Australia has now spread to their branding - the Yahoo! Australia homepage as of today is branded as Yahoo!7.

Discover the new look Yahoo!7 homepage and see the great new features we have on offer.
Along with the Yahoo! products you know and love we are now offering more depth of information in our news and feature coverage with the best from Channel 7 and Pacific Magazines.

LMAO. That is even better than my Buzz Aldrin Gag (http://www.insearchofstuff.com/2006/01/25/yahoo-elect-buzz-aldrid-new-spokesman/). Nothing says second best like teaming with Channel Seven!

I'll see your Eddie McGuire, and raise you a Andrew O'Keefe.

Cop that, Google!

My fly-on-the-wall says that Yahoo Australia are genuinely excited about this partnership. Moreover, it is the first co-branded media portal that Yahoo have ever done and has subsequently elevated Y! AU's prominence in the grand scheme things at Yahoo HQ. Previously, Y! AU was supposedly lumped together with the rest of what Y! called 'emerging markets'.

Hence if the one benefit of the partnership is more quality attention given to Y!AU then that is good enough for me. When I've looked at the Y! brands elsewhere and compared them to Y!AU i'm always :o or :(

At least now Channel 7 can follow 9's leads when it comes to their shows - "If you want to know more about this program, visit Yahoo7.com.au".

Interestingly enough, the URL Yahoo7.com.au is redirected to au.yahoo.com, whereas ninemsn is the brand AND the default URL. Minor branding quibble, but I would have thought it'd be important for 7 to establish the cobranding statement everywhere.

I think the difference is that http://uk.yahoo.com/ is still branded "Yahoo!" whereas http://au.yahoo.com is now branded "Yahoo!7".

I thought BT was a business partner of Yahoo Uk; and Yahoo UK was 100% owned by Yahoo! Inc?

The difference is that Yahoo! A & NZ is no longer 100% owned by Yahoo! Inc.

SYDNEY, Australia and SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Seven Network Limited (ASX: SEV) and Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) today announced that they will combine their online, mobile and IPTV businesses in Australia and New Zealand. The strategic partnership brings together Yahoo!’s successful Australian internet business, Yahoo! Australia & NZ, and the online assets and television and magazine content of Seven Network, one of Australia's leading media companies.
Under the terms of the agreement, Seven and Yahoo! will form a new 50-50 holding company that will own Yahoo! Australia & NZ. Seven and Yahoo! will each hold three of the six board seats in the entity
