Greeting everyone, I recently picked up an account that has a dmoz listing already :) that's the good news now the bad, the listing description is really bad containing generic terms without related keywords. Example -supplier of carriers, books, toys ..... I would like something more along the lines of baby carriers, children books and toys. What would be the best approach to having the description changed without jeopardizing the listing. Or should I leave well enough alone.

Theres usually instructions on how to submit those changes on the actual category page.

Read the submission guidelines carefully for your category, and follow the instructions to the letter.

forget about it, and expect nothing to change... then consider yourself lucky if it does. and if it doesnt dont sweat it...worrying or trying to force a change out of these guys is futile....spend that time getting other relevant links for your site and you will do fine.

Thanks darkM funny but that's the same advice I give others about submitting to dmoz submit and forget. I will review the instructions on changing the description just wanted to check here first in case there was something special to requesting a description change or any pitfalls to watch out for.

Avoid the temptation to keyword stuff or hype your proposed new description. Such an update request would most likely be declined on sight. Also, in a commercial category the title should be the business name.

OTOH, a carefully constructed guidelines compliant description will usually be accepted.

really bad containing generic terms without related keywords. DMOZ descirptions are not met to contain YOUR keywords.Example -supplier of carriers, books, toys ..... I would like something more along the lines of baby carriers, children books and toys. If 'children' and 'baby' are part of the category title, then they will not generally be added to the description (why would they? - its a redundancy and repetition of words)
