Maybe you heard of Fasterfox extension for firefox. It hides your ads on the left side. Every time you have words like ads, banner, advertising etc fasterfox hides your ads and it doesn't show images. I run on modem right now and this helps me great deal, but I do owe your guys a lot and I want to see your ads and click on them :--)

BruceClay ad is showing only....Lucky guy...he had to to do something nice in his life or maybe just not name his image bruce-banner.gif :---)

Thanks for the tip on the Firefox extension - i'm sure people will find that useful!

However, as a heads up to everyone else not using FF or anyone who just doesn't want to add another extension:

we're actually going to be switching to a new forum design that includes the dropping of all sidebar and footer ads, and implementing a new design that puts one single ad at the top of the page. So that will speed things up. Hope they'll actually get that implemented live in the next week or two.

SEW has ads? adblock @ SEW circa 2004 (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=2805)

<update>
i prefer editing usercontent.css now, usually carving out whole divs w/
{visibility:hidden !important;border-bottom:none !important;font-style:oblique}

Yep, some software will block ads. My ZoneAlarm does exactly what you describe, with only Bruce's ad coming through, because he delivers it directly.

In a few months, our ad server is likely to change and correct this, so the ads will come back.

For those already seeing them here, we've also got another change coming. All the ads along the side and the bottom will go away. In place we'll just be carrying one ad at the top of the page. We hope that will help speed up the forum environment.

SEW needs change like I need you know what.

Little bit more style to forums/site wont hurt plus change is always good.
