Working on a variety of sites in different industries I have found Spam across the SERPs wherever I have looked. So, purely to help Google of course, I report the offending sites using the 'report spam results' service.

As yet I have not seen a single site (even the most blatant of spammers) that has been dropped from the SERPs.

My question is: how long does it take Google to review a spam reported site and how many sites are removed from the SERPs in this way?

Normally, I don't think Google does much at all if they recieve the odd spam report about spammy and deceptive sites in their SERPS.

Should Google recieve many comments about the same spammy site, then I think they might have a look and evaluate the site in question.

Probably very few. Google would rather combat spam in their algorithm than on a individual basis. There have been occurrences where they have removed individual sites or a string of sites practicing the same spam technique, but for the most part I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to deal with spammers on a one by one basis.

Thanks David (and Critter), unfortunately that was the answer I was expecting.

Are there any other ways of highlighting SERP Spam to Google or others in a position to do something about it?

I'd like to name and shame some of the worst offenders!
