Hi searchenginewatchers,

I have designed kuori.com (http://www.kuori.com) a new street-lifestyle brand. We plan to use it for casual clothing. We are based in Milan, Italy - fashion driven city. We are still moving the first steps and are seeking opinions and suggestions, particularly with reference to search engine promotion.
In particular we are planning to make a first test with sponsored links budgeting about $ 1.000 for it. Our doubts are:
- is it more efficient to use all the budget with google or split it with overture or others?
- How long should this sponsored links campaign be live?
- how many leads to kuori.com could we reasonably expect?
- how many sponsored keywords should we reasonably use for this first test? 3 - 5 - 10 - more?

Will appreciate a lot your suggestions.

ps. searchenginewatch is really cool and professional, congratulations.

Welcome Manuel, how about let's look at first things first. You say it will be used for casual clothing, but before you do anything there will first have to be a site put up with some content. ;)

Once you have a site up (which being a .com may be best hosted physically in Italy if you plan on targeting the local market) your best dollar spend will be on getting some good quality directory listings. You'll need a fully developed site for that.

Next, rather than "buy" inbound links -and are you talking about $1K total or $1K monthly? - find quality inbound (or reciprocal) links that are from good, on topic sites. That also will take having a developed site people can see.

Design the site with search engine friendly architecture and navigation, and do plenty of keyword research beforehand.

It will take a while to start getting rankings at either Google or Yahoo, so the wise thing is to allocate a good portion of your $1K for PPC, both Overture and AdWords, to start generating a revenue stream as quickly as possible.
