December has been a very educational month for us since we have noticed some strange behaviours from Google related to our blog post pages.
Our website, which is online for a couple of months, consists of two kind of pages : the static html pages that contain information for our services and the dynamic pages which are generated by our blog post content management system (Wordpress).
At the beginning of this month me made some blog posts about the first high profile google bombing incidents in Greece. The posts got very high rankings and appeared a little lower than the company that was google bombed. Since they were the most attractive to those seeking information on the incident, we received a lot of traffic. After 3 -4 days from the day that we published the posts, we noticed that the pages were removed from Google's index even though there weren't any dirty tricks related to them. Immediately we contacted Google notifying them about the fact and 2-3 days later the pages were back and also with similar rankings. Along with the reappearance of the pages we received an answer from Google that confirmed that our pages were back and visible.
Unfortunately our pages were removed for the second time and the whole cycle (email to google , reappearance with similar to the original rankings after 3-4 days) was repeated but without an answer from Google this time.
The second reappearance lasted 12 days. This time our pages were not removed but they were thrown to much lower positions (from the 5th and 6th position to 42nd). In any other situation it wouldn't be strange to happen something like that but it seems that "something" is going on again.
Our rankings, on the rest of the datacenters, remain similar to the ones that we had previously and similar to the previous regional rankings. We do know that the regional rankings may differ from any other rankings but the strange thing in this situation is that the rest of the pages appearing on the regional SERPs are the same with the ones on the other datacenters. Only our pages and the pages that have replaced them are different.
There isn't anything in the general picture of the website that has changed since the day that the posts were published as far as we can know of.
All this mess has caused us to loose a lot of traffic but then again whatever it is given it might be taken back.
Our website (in Greek) is at
