I need some help pricing for services rendered at a fair market price.

Here's what I did for client:

Purchased domain name
Hosted and designed very simple website
Optimized page text and meta tags for high quality targetted terms
Developed inbound links from high pr sites and directories build site up to PR4
Ran Overture PPC and Google Adwords campaigns (spent $500-$1000)
Got top 3 position in Google for "best" term
Got top 3 position in Yahoo for "best" term
Got number 1 local position in Yahoo for generic term in local market
etc
The client is now ready to pay based on the success of his site and wants me to charge him a fair market price.

Seriously? $3000? $10,000 ? less / more

What is fair?

I'm going to ignore the questions I have about why you did work before quoting a price ;) and try to give you some input...

The problem with input is that "fair market value" doesn't really exist.

There are people out there that charge $25 an hour and people that charge $300 an hour.

There are sites out there that would make $200 profit for the work you did, there are sites that might make $20,000.

What you are really asking us is what is a fair price for YOU to charge and that's really only a question that you can answer. We don't know what your overhead is or what you usually charge.

Best I can think in your situation might simply be a percentage of the profits, or an hourly wage for the work you did plus a 20% premium over any of your out of pocket expenses. (So if you spent $10 on a domain name, charge $12 for it, if you spent $1000 on PPC, charge $1200)

Ha! Just noticed that you are in Columbus! I just moved from Westerville up to Sunbury. Drop me a PM when you get a chance. Always glad to find another SEO/SEM in the area...
