Multilingual Search Engine

Could someone please tell me where i could get some info on a multilingual search engine, such as algorithms that could be used and possible implementation etc. Much appreciated

I think that you also need to clarify what you would like to obtain.
Google, Yahoo, & MSN are all multilingual. Perhaps you would like international region search engines?

And I think it's better to try to ask about certain countries or languages.

I just need to know how they work. maybe a few algorithms that are used to make them, stuff like that.

Its quite interesting - see a search for Madrid using Spanish preferences in Google

against the English version.

Although the same keyword is used, the results are totally different
