Does google intend on dropping pr value in the near future, i im intend on doing work on links. :D

If you are trying to rank a site don't focus on PR... focus on getting links that will bring you visitors... if you do this things will start to come together.

Not very likely. Google's PR gives Google a lot of PR. :)
