View Full Version : Coke Does It Again -- Forgets Search After Major Product Launch

Yesterday Coca-cola announced the anticipated 2006 launch of Coke Blak, a coffee flavored cola. And, just as when they announced C2, there is NOTHING in search to support this announcement. When will the big brands figure out that Search is the best (and only) way to capture the buzz created by huge announcements? And it's not just search. I can't find anything on their website either. Reminds me of what Misty Locke said on the panel yesterday afternoon. SEM'ers have a responsibility not to fail like this. Someone should be out of a job today....
If all you SEO/M ers out there are good enough salespeople, someone should be INTO a job too... ;)

To keep track of the fraction of documents in a search engine targeting a given sequence, just compute an EF-Ratio and monitor this over a given period of time. Temporal Co-occurrence Analysis provides you with great seasonal trend analytics.
As of today in Google
EXACT results for coke blak = 15,600
FINDALL results for coke blak = 128,000
EF-Ratio = 12.19%
ie., in Google, about 12 out of 100 docs relevant to coke and blak are targeting this term sequence.

Try C2 on search (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=439).... Ohhh I wish they would listen to my uncle! And our marketing community too!!
