Hi all,
This is my first post to this forum. I'm getting ready to build a site for a client, and I'm considering writing a CMS which would alllow the administrator to simultaneously post both static HTML pages AND static XML pages, with a SQL db on the backend just for old content archival purposes.
My question is this: Do search engines (Google or others), place a higher relavance on XML pages than HTML (since it doesn't have to wade through styling or other formatting that makes HTML human readable). Would the site be penalized for having duplicate content on each page (such as www.mysite.com/index.xml AND www.mysite.com/index.html)? Are there other advantages or disadvantages to consider?
