I set up a particular AdWords account the other day and my ads started showing straight away, i'm running a variety of ad groups. Some had little or no competition (decent enough search results but not popular with advertisers) which was great for my ad impressions. the more competitive ones i could tweak and see the effects of my tweaks. i was also doing this on fairly low CPC. :)
This only lasted for the first day of the account though.
And so i greatly increased my daily budget and CPC (which i didnt actually need to do) to see if that was it and now im not coming up at all - under the popular or unpopular keywords. There is a keyword that only one other advertiser is listed under and i just cant get to appear there. if hardly anybody else is in that sponsored links section, shouldnt i be able to be there?
i'm not getting any impressions at all. :(
Does it sound like i'm 'under review' or something like that?
Would love to know if someone knows what is going on here.

Have you checked your daily budget? A lot of times that is the culprit - budget set too low means your ads don't run for very long each day.
If that's not it, try emailing Adwords Support and ask them what's going on.

hi genrobey. It sounds to me as if your ads are in fact "under review." Give it a couple days, and then contact support as mel suggests. Also, ask someone that is using a different computer to check for your listings. If it is a natioanl campaign and you know someone in another state, ask them to check too.
obviously, the daily budget is not an issue as you pointed out, otherwise that may have been it.

Sorry, I saw the part about increasing your CPC, but didn't see that you had increased your budget also. :o

Thanks guys.
Yes I contacted them other day with no response yet.
I'll let you know what happens here.
Very frustrating not even getting one impression.
if it is a review, it's a pity they cant put a note on your screen about it, and that it needs to take so long.
Thanks

An update on the situation...a friend has tried out my exact keywords and ad wording (and at far less CPC) and can get the ad to appear without a problem.
So i'm definitely thinking i'm being blocked in some way (not that im aware of doing anything wrong!) or at least just reviewed for a few days.
havent heard back from google so I've sent them another email...
will keep you posted.

Did you try the "Ads Diagnostic Tool" in the Tools section of your AdWords account?
That's what they usually tell you to do first.
If it says that your ad is not showing, then it has to be under review or you might have some content that they do not want to distribute.

AT LAST! :)
I've got a reply from Google. wow, that was a loooong review (I wasnt even running a site-targeted ad).
"Your ads weren't running because your account was under review. If you
continue to have difficulty viewing your ad, please reply to this message
with the keywords you are using to search for your ad. I will then be
happy to research the problem further."
Thanks dplazas06, no i didnt try the ad diagnostic tool but will look at that for next time.
now i'm going to lower my ridiculously high CPCs...

now i'm going to lower my ridiculously high CPCs...
Hooray! The folks at G have been very busy it seems. :p
One note, you may want to maintain your higher CPC's for at least a few days until you establish a nice CTR. At that point, a lower max CPC should translate into a higher avg position than if you lower everything immediately. Good luck with your campaign, and thanks for giving us a nice timeline of how long these things can sometimes take.
