Hello all,

I know this question might look a little vague, but I'll try to focus it the best.

I'm trying to look from a local search site point of view, and was curious about 2 general figures:

CTR of ppclick

Is there an average figure for CTR of ppclick ads that are shown on local sites (YP, verticals, SE local search)?

I've tried to look at many resources - I haven't found a solid statement about it, but I saw people who talk about 3-6% .

Obviously, it depends a lot in category, ad text and other factors - so we can also focus just to IYP - like superpages

Or an alternate question -> what is considered a good CTR for local ad compaing (plumber, lawyer, dentist - the classic types)

CTR of ppcall

This one is harder, and I'm sure there are enough stats -> but is there a general estimation for the CTR on ppcall ads?

Look like superpages and smartpages are the places that have enough data, and also A9. Is there a way to search for it?

eStara had their forrester research - but it was mainly reviewing click-to-call Vs. click-to-callback.

Would be happy to hear thoughts and suggestions

Good questions:

I don't use ppcall

I have 2 types of ppc in google

1 with local phrases for the industry; one without (tightly geographic)

CTR for localized phrases over 11%

CTR for generic industry phrases without local geo description 14%

Thanks Dave for the interesting stats.

Above 11% for localized - that's quite impressive. Is it considered above the average? 'cause I was assuming 5-7% is the basic average.

I'd like to hear more replies also.

I have a 2nd set of localized keywords that does about 3-6%. I knew the above group were my real conversions, though.

Your question spurred me to look at the rates. Thanks. Now I'm going to vary amounts.

Dave,

You can see some interesting notes in the same topic I posted on webmastersworld forum:
