Hello all,

Please take the time to complete the 2005 SEMPO Survey (http://www3.intellisurvey.com/run/sempo2): Search Engine Marketing -- Trends and Metrics

From the intro:
"Please complete this survey only if you are familiar with, and actively engaged in, at least one type of the search engine marketing practices described in the "Survey Definitions" section linked on the navigation bar above. That includes people engaged in such programs in the capacity as advertisers (including both marketing staff and management), site managers, marketing agencies and search engine marketing service providers."
Thanks to all who choose to participate!

I filled out the survey, but I must say it was very bullish on the industry. There was no option for flat spending or declining spending. I mean, our company was bigger in 2005 than we were in 2004 but our spending on paid placement declined, because keyword prices declined. I really don't expect paid ad spending to rise in 2006 (although our billings will probably rise), but the survey didn't give that option. The lowest projection you could give was 10% increase.

Yep, this definition is lumping all the different types of service providers together in one, which imho clouds a lot of issues

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Service Provider: Agencies or individuals who assist companies with the various search engine marketing practices described above.
