Is there a limit to the number of campaigns you can have?
I've never experienced one before, but I have a huge account I am taking over (400 adgroups), and I'd like to pull the adgroups up a level and make them a campaign so I can control the spend on each 'keyword bucket'.
The help files on google said nothing about this. And why can't you control your spend on the adword container level?

Is there a limit to the number of campaigns you can have?... grnidone, yes, there is a limit - and under normal circumstances it is 25 campaigns per account. That said, if you feel that you have compelling reasons for needing more campaigns, I'd suggest contacting AdWords support, detailing your needs, and exploring your options with the support team.
I haven't seen your account, of course, but since it sounds as if you wish to substantially reorganize, one thing to consider might be to reorganize such that all Ad Groups of a similar nature are collected under the umbrella of a campaign, and given campaign settings (such as daily budget, etc.) commensurate with their importance in the overall mix of products or services. Organized in this way 25 campaigns may very well be sufficient.

Well, the thing is, you can't control the spend unless you have it broken into campaigns.
It'd be really nice to be able to control the spend from the adwords bucket...Frankly it is a pita not to have that control.

One thing to think about, though, is how complex this would make your billing pages. Currently an advertiser may change their daily budget 10x per day, per campaign - which equals a potential 250 budget changes/day that need to be tracked by the AdWords system, recalculated on the fly, and reflected on the "Invoice Details" pages. (And, yes, some advertisers actually do change their budget in this way.)
If budgets were set at the Ad Group level with the same ability to change budget, then the picture would look more like 2500 x 10, or potentially 25,000 budget changes per day per account. It practically makes my hair stand on end!
Anyway, I'll pass your feedback on in a few hours. ;)
