to get up and running and e why. It says it is active but haven't got a single impression or click since I created the ad. It says it is active but to me it seems totrally dead. I have emailed Googles support for 2 days but no answer yet to why it doesn't show up at all anywhere on the sites I selected...
Anybody else have this problem?

Have you looked to see how you set up the account... maybe country chosen wrong... language etc.
Bid may be really low and not going live.... more details are needed to be able to help you. What word is it you are advertising?

Depending on the word and matching used...it could just be that no one is searching for it.

Ahhhh but the person has to have searched for his term and not seen it there as well.... I would hope he is not just looking at the AdCenter interface to determine that!
Also how many impressions is it saying have occurred for the term???

I missed the part about "the sites I selected". If you're using site targeting (CPM) your ad will only show up on the site if it stands to make the site owner the most $. The official minimum bid is $0.25/m but that won't get your ads running on a popular site.

have to agree with Chicago on that one.... and if it is a popular term with many bidders you would need to refresh quite a bit to see the ad

Umm...if it IS a site-targeted CPM campaign, then don't forget about the fact that no ads appear on the Content Network until they have been manually reviewed and approved by an AdWords staffer. This means that keyword-targeted ads will appear on Google but not on the Network before being reviewed - and site-targeted ads won't appear at all until being reviewed. Hence no impressions.

I didn't know, because I didn't see it anywhere, that they have to rebview the ad first and then give me an ok for the ad.
I just saw that it was active and thought that was it.
It is in rotation now after 3-4 days of evaluation :)
Seems like site targeting is a lot better and cheaper too :)

gehrlekrona, let me see if I can fill in a few of the details and give you a complete picture.
* As a rule of thumb all keyword-targeted AdWords ads submitted will run on google.com without review - but must be reviewed and approved before they can appear on either the search or content network.
* However, by definition, ads from site-targeted campaigns don't show on Google, and will only show on the content network. This means they'll not show at all until reviewed and approved, as pointed out by Branoic. (It's worth noting that time-to-approve can vary quite a bit depending on volume of ads being submitted, as one might expect.)
* The word 'Active' can be a little confusing. When you see it in reference to campaigns or Ad Groups, 'Active' simply means that the campaign or Ad Group has not been paused or deleted by the advertiser. It doesn't necessarily mean that the ads are running though. For example, if one's credit card has expired and a payment has been declined, the ads would not be running - but they would still be marked as 'Active' because they have not been paused or deleted by the advertiser.
* When you see the word 'Active' in reference to a keyword, it means that the keyword is 'Active' in the sense that it has it's minimum bid set above the minimum level required for the keyword to run. Otherwise, it will become 'Inactive'.
Hope that made sense, rather than just confusing the issue further. ;)

how it all works. To me the word active was confusing but it is "clear as mud" now :)
While I have the chance, I'd like to complain about a lot of sites that use AdSense and I have reported a few because the sites only have Google ads on them without real content. I guess Google makes money anyway but if, like a lot of sites do, use text from my sites that are popular and just paste it on their site to get visitors (as I see it, my visitors) and to have the visitors click on the ads to make money (as I see it, my money).
I realize that you have tons of sites that show your ads and it must be impossible to keep track of who is using it and where since you can sign up and then place the code anywhere but it would be great if you did something about site that gets reported to you.

...Clear as mud. Uh Oh, not one of my best efforts then?
I'll be happy to pass your other comments on to the AdSense folks, BTW.

I just read what Google say about the sites showing their ads and there is nothing about quality of the sites the ads are showing, so I guess the only thing I can complain about then is that sites are stealing text from my sites to get a better ranking in Google so they can make money from their lusy sites :(

Hi Maildeepak,
I'm wondering what ended up happening for you here. it sounds exactly like my situation. my post for it is here:
http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=8867
it actually did get impressions on my first day, immediatley after setting it up, but it's been dead for almost a week since. no impressions whatsoever and i know it's not my CPC or daily budget (which I increased even further and it wasnt that competitive anyway). still waiting to hear back from google...
Thanks

What happened was that I had to raise my daily budget and then they started to show up, but I am still having problems with adWords. I have setup both keyword targeted and site targeted and the site targeted just takes too long for Google to approve. You don't even know if your ad is approved or not. I have never got any emails from Google saying they are not approved or anything else so you think it is approved when it says "Active", at least I do :) The search targeted usually show up immediately.
I had one ad I deleted it after a week with no impressions and of course no clicks. I don't really understand why it takes them so long to approve an ad. Understaffed? Do you have to have budget of thousands of dollars to have your ad show up?

i've only got keyword targeted ads. i'm still waiting for something to happen with them. still nothing. none of the ads are working (they all got some on the first day i set it up though).
i've sent my third email to Google....hoping...

You might be bidding enough to get the site targeted ad to run. Look here (https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=18280) for more info.
