Here is a great thread at Webmasterworld about the "Myth of the Hispanic Market":

http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum78/6000.htm (http://www.ihispanic.com/sewf/myth-of-the-hispanic-market.html)

From discussions so far the answer to the biggest myth is that all Hispanics are NOT the same. As well as the questioning if this market is only ready for large corporations interested in just branding, rather than "is there a market for me today?".

So, let me go back to my post here for "Search Marketing en Espanol (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=333)" to underline that there are many markets out there and a "one size fits all" approach will probably get you to fail. In today’s competitive market, it is not good enough just to say: “we are going to target the Hispanic market.” A more analytical approach is usually needed.

There are many posts on that thread that confuses the general Hispaic users with the U.S. Hispanic users. The best way to understand the differences is with this list:

A U.S. American company targeting U.S. Hispanics.
A U.S. Hispanic company targeting U.S. Hispanics/ Anglos / or all of the above.
An international company (outside the U.S.) targeting the U.S. Hispanics.
A U.S. Hispanic or American company targeting other Hispanic cultures around the world.
An international Hispanic company targeting their own or other Hispanic cultures around the world.

With that in mind please post your comments, questions, stories or case studies. We love to hear your experience with today's hottest growing market.

Thanks :)

I thought the 'hottest' growth was China? Are they not increasing their use of the web by 50% year on year?

And aren't there rather a lot of Chinese and Chinese language speakers?

Google bought China's 'Baidu' because of its importance and because Baidu was more strongly placed than they were.

Forgive me for being like a stuck record on this - my real point is 'diversity'. There's an awful lot going on in the world of which Spanish language activity is important - but I think it pays to remember the total diversity.

Please you could add to your categories:

- Multilingual world targeter - within which Spanish is an important component

Well, there's not a single Hispanic market. The only thing we all have in common is the language we speak. Cubans and Puerto Ricans aren't move by the same motivations most of the time, and the same goes with Guatemalans, Spaniards, Mexicans and so on.

If you can find something that works for all of them, congrats, you'd have hit the jackpot!! :D
