Dear SEO Friends,
Our site at www.batterygeek.net used to be ranked #10 in google for the keywords ‘external laptop battery’ and now ever since yesterday we are not showing up anywhere.
Also, we were highly ranked for the keywords ‘dvd battery’ and ‘dvd batteries’ and ‘universal laptop batteries’ and 'external battery packs' but now no longer.
The strange thing is that when we use the tool at http://www.googlerankings.com/index.php we are still showing google ranking for these keywords.
Another strange thing is that earlier yesterday our google rankings would appear and then an hour or two later they will mysteriously disappear again.
As most of our revenue is generated from new business from customers who have found us through organic google search, this is a major worry for us.
Also, we have already read carefully the google webmaster guidelines posted at http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html and do not believe our site to be in violation of any of the google guidelines.
Would it be possible for anyone to take a quick look at our site and let us know if they see any red flags?
The latest news is that apparantly google has kicked us down from #10 for 'external laptop battery' to #83. Any ideas why this might be?
Thanks

Not sure what the deal is....
Perhaps google is up to something....
Our ranking for external laptop battery drops from #10 to #83 and then keeps going back and forth.
I checked with our SEO guy and he says that we should not have any problem with duplicate content.
Here's his comments, "This often happens with major updates. We checked goggles 8 major databases and you are ranked on 5 and not on the other three. Not to worry. Google is currently undergoing some changes and you may notice that you site rankings will jump around a little. As far as your post, I would be careful on what you read at the forums. 50% is great advice, and the other 50% is from people who think they know what they are talking about, but really have no idea. If you have a question about SEO you can always ask us. We are here to help."
Any of your thoughts most welcome....
Thanks

true about the forum advice, however some things are just that way. Google doesn't like dupes and randomly throws a fit and catches sites that were fine a day before. Anyway, good luck.

Here's something else our SEO Guy mentioned about the duplicate content theory, " As far as the duplicate content goes, our spider did not match anything that would be considered a violation. It is fine. When you have so many different products that do the same thing there is going to be some similar text. It is impossible to avoid it. Every major site, including amazon.com, buy.com etc has duplicate content for similar products. You should always avoid the same content when it comes to articles and static pages."
Ideas anyone?
Much appreciated,

Hi DaveN,
Thanks for your reply. Do you think that this resources page might be hurting us? If so, why and what would you suggest for resolution?
Much appreciated,

I would remove the resource.htm Dave pointed out and you seen to have a dupe problem. You rank fairly high (after removing the indents from other sites) with &filter=0.
