Hello,
What search tools do you use for your desktop. It has been a while since I have looked at desktop search tools. I just downloaded Copernic and Web Ferret which are free as well as Alexa.
What research tools do you have on your desktop which you use? You can hate them, love them, etc. most important is that you use them.
Research tools could be anything from search tool bars, search engines, personal directories, organizers for phone and contact information, email managers, etc.

Me also uses browser(Opera) for searching . But its not only abt having a search 'toolbar' , there are many ways you can search if ar using a good browser.
like in opera i can double click a word- a menu pops up and then i can choose which search engine to search from a dropdown.
then there are keyboard shortcuts, multiple search engines in one go, voice commands, searching from addressbar =
'g "search term"' for google.and i can add my own search engines . Pretty cool.
For desktop: avafind, find and run robot, agent runsack.
All are good in many areas.

There are a few more things which seemed to pop up now and again. I am evaluating something called Netsnippets which is a web clipper, and looking at something called FeedDemon-- an RSS newsfeed aggregator. There are a lot of surprising answers which come up BlinkX looks interesting, so does Microsoft OneNote.
