Just wondered if anyone here has ever tried to test the incremental effect of Paid searches over organic-only?
The only way I can think of calculating this is if Google Adwords would run a custom Paid algorithm where they would serve up a NON-paid results page to a random proportion of searches that normally would have provided Paid results.
Of course, to measure the effectiveness of this the target website would have to be able to measure which results page visitors landed at, but as this depends on your site it's probably the more doable part of the process.
Anyone have any idea whether Google would be willing -- or able -- to provide such a treated vs. control methodology?
