Does anyone know of a tool for managing bids on Yahoo! Search that will update bids all day long with no maximum on the number of bid changes or how frequently they can be made? One of our competitors clearly is using a software that does this because whenever I change one of our bids, no matter what time of day or how obscure the keyword is, this compeitor's bid changes within 5 minutes. Right now I am using Bidrank and have it set to check bids every 9 minutes, however it seems as though bids cannot be updated more than once an hour or so plus there is a maximum of 24 updates per day.

Any clue as to what my competitor is using and/or what tool I should be using to do the same thing?

I have tried using Atlas Onepoint and it always seems to have the wrong/old information not too mention it gets way too expensive when you update all day long. The Yahoo! Search Optimizer has some good features and willl update seemingly all day long, but it is missing all the bid management features that I need. I could never switch all my keywords over that that system and allow an automated system to update my bids based on performance because that just bids as high as possible with no regard to total profit - for instance, it will bid first position if we can make $0.05 per each conversion whereas a lot of time we could be making $3.00 per conversion in second position. So, its not better for us to make 100 sales at $0.05 when we could make 75 sales at $3.00. Search Optimizer can't understand this.

Thanks for any help.

This is not an answer to your question, but just some additional info: My understanding is that the Yahoo Search marketplace allows you to bid on any term every 15 minutes.

Tools using the API for bid management, I think, can only change bids up to 24 times per day.

If my understanding is correct (others-please rectify) , you could try this: If there are only a few keywords that your competitor is beating you out on that you're concerned about, you could try managing them manually without the 24x limit. If they have a tool, they have that limit, but you could change yours manually every 15 mins.

not sure if you saw the somewhat recent change, but Overture lets you bid to position with a max bid.

I have not tested it much, but I believe you can set your bid to be at max second or third position and then set your bid to some outrageous amount and I believe it will auto set your official calculated bid price in the search results to one cent below your competitor to jam them, while showing some lesser amount in the bid display screen, showing there only one cent above the person the position below you. as the competitor updates their bids it updates the displayed bid for both sites.

hopefully that sounded clear? am tired...but I hope it did :)

The Overture API lets you adjust your bids hourly.
