More traffic: more links, advertisement,
More pages viewed: good content, good display!

Afraid traffic has nothing to do with PageRank.

That's right. Traffic and viewed pages have nothing to do with PageRank. To improve it, you need more links from other sites. Links from other sites will do far more for your rankings than PageRank will, so focus of improving your rankings through links, and the PageRank will follow.
