I know that I can't advertise my site that sells gun accessories (not parts, just accessories) on Yahoo - they cancelled my account months ago, saying they won't accept my ads any more. Their unacceptable content page states
"We will not accept sites that offer automatic weapons, military-style assault weapons, or integral parts for these weapons."
Of course, the term "integral parts" is very vague, and not only that but it's being imposed by people with extremely limited understanding of weapons.
My main customers consist of 1. Hunters, 2. Police departments, 3. "etc" - those who enjoy customizing their LEGAL weapon with accessories from my store.
I do not sell anything that is legally considered a "gun part" - to do that requires a federal firearms dealer license.
Anyhow, I noticed a strange phenomenon. If you do a search on "xxx widget" where xxx is something to do with gun and widget is some type of gun, you get no results on the Yahoo web search page. However, if you do that same search on Yahoo shopping, there is a "sponsor results" section with ads from my main competitors. My question is this: Is there some separate area on Yahoo Search Marketing where I can advertise in the shopping vertical? I am not talking about the actual results in yahoo shopping. I do submit a product feed to Yahoo shopping, and they have no problem with that. My question has to do with the "sponsor results" section on Yahoo shopping. The particular term in question is exactly one of the terms that I was denied when they disabled all my ads several months ago. My site does not sell anything different or more "scary" than the very large sites that are appearing there in the sponsor results area.
Does anyone have any insight for me? Thanks!
