Looks like I'll need to put some more semi-colons on my site...

HEY ALL...
Well I read this article and when I saw the title, I was worried. Once I began to read the actual article and verify that the domain fluffycialis.com has not even been registered and the article is one big joke...
LOL
Cheers

But the Google print edition sounds like a GREAT idea, don't ye think? Especially looking forward to the weekly updates!

Interesting, how huge would this book be.
According to wordtracker.com about 320 mln searches are made every day. If three first pages of each search were included in the book - then it would have about 1 bln pages - that is 1 mln of average volumes. If one volume is about 5 cm wide then we would need 50 km of shelves.
According to the news item at http://www.bbspot.com/News/2004/03/google_print.html (http://www.bbspot.com/News/2004/03/google_print.html) it would "only" be 36,795 volumes. Of course it could be a lot bigger depending on how the info is presented, e.g. if multiple keyword searches are supported ... Also very handy as a backup in case the online version is down.

About the article, I think this is a joke, because in the Google's SERPs I didn't find changes... at least in my experience.
Bye bye...

Hi Shiftzero,
Welcome to Search Engine Watch Forums! Yes the article is a joke so don't give it too much credit. ;)

This has been kept too secret for too long. Here is the way it's really done

Actually Marcia,
I beg to differ. For those of us in the industry long enough to be privy to the technology, Google has opened up the secret of Google PR formula (http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html)

You gotta love these guys :D
Where does Google get its pigeons? Some special breeding lab?
Google uses only low-cost, off-the-street pigeons for its clusters. Gathered from city parks and plazas by Google's pack of more than 50 Phds (Pigeon-harvesting dogs), the pigeons are given a quick orientation on web site relevance and assigned to an appropriate data coop.
That's very funny, LOL!

I already mailed in my $10 months ago (see step 10) and I just don't get it. Didn't do anything for me ;)

Actually I went back to his site - I use Firefox, so I was surprised to see the Google toolbar there, that made the whole thing even funnier.
So far I've seen the Google print edition as a nice add-on product, although one that is really a MUST for every webmaster or SEO. But today I heard the rumour that Google may well migrate completely from the web to the paper edition. In addition to obvious cost savings on their data centers, it seems this may give them certain unique competitive advantages. And some of their largest advertising customers supposedly prefer to have their ads printed on solid paper rather than just displayed on a screen for a few seconds. Can anyone confirm?
OK, sorry, it's a joke.
It's been too long, before this printed edition, that I've been "rolling on the floor laughing" like this one. Must be my particular sense of humour.

I hate to think how many trees are being desatroyed for the printed version... I had the feeling Google was a granola type organization... what a good cover.
