I wish to change or restructure my current Adwords accounts which is currnetly running on CTR of 3.8% - 4.2%.
I wish to resturcture my account by following way.
1. Shfting keywords from one adgroup to another adgroup(existing or new) within same campaign.
2. Shifting keywords from one adgroup to another adgroup(existing or new), to existing campaign or creating a new campaign.
Question: ??
In this process, is there any possiblity I may loose my ranking or position on the keywords. Is keyword history is deleted from the google system. If yes what shall be done to minimize the damage, and in case No how do I shift the keywords as there is no option provided by adwords (By deleting in one adgroup and adding back in other).
Thanks

When you move words from an adgroup you will lose the history and it will then be factored into the new group...
best way to help keep the position high is to increase the max bid significantly and drop its value after the CTR has had a chance to establish itself.

This is a common worry. Long story short, too many advertisers fret about losing their much valued "keyword history."
Invariably, you will re-establish your history in short order if you move things around. Focus on process and do the right thing, is usually the best approach. I'd rather restructure an account so it is easier to follow and better targeted rather than keep a messy account based on worries that any kind of change might hurt.
As AussieWebmaster mentioned, it might help to keep your bid a bit higher at first.
AdWords start you at some arbitrary quality score / CTR value that is probably something like the average for the group. So it's not like you start "at the bottom."

When you move words from an adgroup you will lose the history and it will then be factored into the new group . . . Sorry, but I don't follow . . . how can the history be lost if it is factored into the new AdGroup?
Thanks in anticipation.

I most probably knew what I meant to say and just typed it and did not look... what I meant was they will be refactored in the new group... use what you have gained from earlier and improve it... also if you are putting it in a group you have to dealk with that group's dynamic.

Thanks for clarifying that Frank.
In the situation where you were shifting the KW to a new AdGroup in an attempt to improve a poor CTR, would you advocate reinstating the old creative in the new AdGroup to test against new creative before discarding the old one permanently?
Thanks in anticipation.
