For those of us who design, develop and do SEO for clients. How do you sell putting RSS / Newsfeeds on their sites?
Most of mine are not very web savvy and I wondered how others sold / explained it's benefits to clients.
Thanks

Several practical applications for feeds that use a blog as a content manager include:
1. Press releases
2. Job listings
3. Newsletters, announcements
4. FAQs
5. New listings for real estate
6. New products and pricing updates
There are plenty more using the imagination. Site visitors can subscribe to these items as well as view them as a web page.
The way I explain it to clients is that this is information prospects/visitors can subscribe to and that we can place links to the feeds on other web sites and blogs so someone can subscribe even before visiting the client's web site.
I am also certain to explain that the use and acceptance of feeds is in its infancy, but that it is also growing.

Cheers TopRank,
Currently using rss for site content and news. But I have got a few of my clients using it for newsletters. Like you said though it's 'still' early days for rss we know about them but 'Joe Public' is still learning about it! grrrr ;)
(only just got one of my clients to stop viewing the web at 800 x 600 on his 19inch LCD!!! DOH)
