When setting a priorty tag which number applies higher priority to the page?

A higher or lower number? Google says the scale is 0.0 to 1.0

< priority>0.5</priority>

Would .1 or .9 place a higher indexing priority on the page?

See here, you probably have to login on own account. https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/protocol.html

Thanks, Joe

As Google states it:

"The value is a number between 0.0 and 1.0, where 0.0 is the lowest priority and 1.0 is the highest priority."

Thus 0.9 is higher priority than 0.1.

See: sitemaps (https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/sitemap-generator.html)

As Google states it:

My brain was still on Sunday time - I missed it competely

Thanks for finding the info for me.

Have a nice day friend.

My pleasure.

Somehow the structure of this Google sitemap info seems not what it should be - i.e. one does not expect the priority explanation on the sitemap generator page.
