adsense traffic.
I´ve founded this on the Referrals traffic that´s coming to my web site.
I´m not paying any Adwords campaigns ... or managing some adsense.

Yup that's an adsense referer alright. Odd that it came your way.

Are you running any PPC? Someone may have this as a reference to their page and somehow redirect to you....

I could be wrong, but I believe that if someone uses your site as their alternate URL in AdSense (maybe you have an affiliate program, or someone who just likes your site ;)), that it may still show the googlesyndication URL in the referral. I will have to check that for certain though.

I'm curious as to what this is as well. One of my sites is showing this url as a referrer as well...9 times so far this month. I don't run any Adwords ads for the site either.

Honestly I think it couldn’t be happened. I’ll try to follow these referrals and find out where they come from. My own web site is fine but I do not believe someone is just paying money to give me traffic.

Just to clarify - pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads? is the referer string passed when a user clicks on an Adwords advertisement which is displayed on an Adwords partner site (i.e an adsense advertisement). The referrer string for a Adwords 'click' from a search site is a different referrer string.

The only way that I am aware that the googlesyndication referrer can appear in your logs is:
- Your URL must appear in someone's Adwords campaign, where the campaigns is set to content match
- Some one clicks on the ad on the syndicated partner (adsense) site.

Is the site that is getting these referrals some kind of non commercial or 'charity' or 'community service' site? Is it getting PSA adverts?

Otherwise - as Jen said - you've got a fairy godmother sending you traffic! :)

Do you have competitors that are running AdSense? If so go and check their page code and see how they have the Google stuff configured... you may see your URL as the alternative.

I've seen this "Fairy Godmother" effect in forum discussions elsewhere... I *haven't* seen a good explanation for it. But I figure that whoever is buying PPC traffic for you must benefit in some way, right? So I think the first suspects are your outbound links. Maybe someone figured out that you send him/her 90% of his/her traffic. Wouldn't you buy ads for someone else if that were the case?

I just got a new site and noticed that some of the pages are hanging on pagead2.... I do have adsense. But wow, it is really slow on getting the ad served.

I am not sure why. I just bought the site and replaced all of the ads. I checked the source code and made sure my publisher number was showing.

It will get quicker as it recognizes the content etc.
