Much secrecy about the startup, but Andy Rubin has a lot of experience (http://www.robot.net) and past projects around areas that would be very interesting for local search:

> Automated car based web cam mapping (http://dope****.com/ )
> Mobile phone technologies (Hiptop (http://www.danger.com/consumers_hiptop2.php) - which includes Messenger services on mobile and various other mobile techs)

OK speculation time - car based web cams pulling street level data to Google Maps - mobile phone tech giving users directions using GPS - advertisers paying on a PPD (pay per direction) or PPWI (Pay per walk in) basis?

Add to this Dodgeball (social networking) and other Google acquisitons / developments and there's lots of possibilities.

Added = profanity filter bleeping the domain above - it is available via robot.net (it's the Sh** word! ;)).
