View Full Version : Geotargetting is messing up

I have geotargeted adwords campaigns running for several US cities. But this morning I noticed that my ads are showing up where they shouldn't be.

For example, I have a campaign set up to have ads appear ONLY within 90 miles of Chicago. One of my ads is for the keyword "nose surgery." I am in Florida. If I do a search for "nose surgery" I don't see the ad, which is good (since I'm nowhere near Chicago). But if I do a search for "nose surgery chicago" (which by the way is NOT a keyword that I bid on), I can see my ad.

Why is it doing this? And how do I make it stop? Anybody else experiencing this?

Don't you think that Google presumes you are located in Chicago if you use the keyword in the query?

It is still geotargeting, but using keywords instead of IP...

I don't think that's what is happening. I also have a campaign for 70 miles around Toronto. If I do a search for "nose surgery toronto" I cannot see my ad.

I don't understand what Google is doing.
