Hi,
I have a client who wants the regional settings used on their ads (which is fine) I have set up the regions rather than country to be used (for the UK).
However, they have an entire campaign and numerous ads already set up which need altering. Do I need to create new ad groups for each region for the same product (for example) "product1 - All of UK", "product1 - Wales", "product1 - England" .. or is there an option when I create ads to set them for each region within the adgroup??
Sorry to pester with what may be an easy question. I'm desperately lacking training here! :(

Ok no replies. No matter.
My Google research suggests as I thought, its only the campaigns which can be set to regions. Which means that the same client who wanted to reduce their Google Adwords account to make it more manageable has just requested to quadruple its size! (I will be clarifying this with them though, I think the client believes you can set regions to each individual advert - not possible according to Google)
If I am incorrect on any of this please let me know!!

Sorry Poppy,
You and I have been left behind to mind the store while the rest of the gang is at SEW. Soaking up some So Cal sun and sucking down South of the border Margs no doubt.
Hope they keep a few brain cells in tact so they can share what they have learned and perhaps answer your question.

You've got it correct.
You can make that change in the "Edit campaign settings" at the campaign level only - campaigns get very large, very quick when doing this.
The downside - at least over here in the states, is that once setting any regional settings (as opposed to U.S. Nationwide) the ads stop appearing on AOL - which means we lose approx. 20% of the audience.
I have no idea what AOL's reach is in the UK. You'll have to weigh the tradeoff for your situation - more viewers and less targeting or more targeting and fewer viewers.

Thanks for your reply Infra Guy!
I shall have to look into the AOL thing. To be honest they're a very minor search engine over here anyway.
I've just done a quick calculate of the size of Google Adwords done the way my client wants and it ends up with 12 campaigns and 50 ad groups. Thats for now .. who knows in the future when more stuff gets added!

Wait til you get to 1 site, 4 Google accounts, 153 campaigns, 15,000 Ad Groups and 200,000 terms...that's when the fun begins. :)

You can reduce a little by setting the campaigns to the area and then inside each area have groups covering all products...
