View Full Version : Reporting Adwords policy violators?

I come from an ebay background which is user moderated. If your competition is doing something against the rules you have to turn them in, eBay doesn't check listings themselves.
So I found an ad that says a price in the ad text, then when you go to the page it lists a higher price. I know this has to be against adwords policy, is there a form or something I can use to report it to google?
TIA

If you have an Adwords rep, I'd start there. If not, send an email to adwords-support@google.com with a screen shot of the ad and landing page in question. I've found them to be quite responsive to this type of thing.

You can also click on the "Ads by Goooooogle" link that appears by the ad(s)and submit feedback there.

Depending on how new you are to AdWords, you may not know that ads may run on Google for a short time before being reviewed. Once reviewed and approved the ads may then appear on partner sites as well.
The reason I bring this up, is that the ad you are concerned about has probably not been reviewed yet. And when it is reviewed, the discrepancy that you've mentioned will be noticed, and will cause the ad to be disapproved.
So, in all probability, this issue will be resolved with no action on your part - as a normal part of the review process.
On the other hand, you are certainly welcome to write the AdWords support team about it, being certain to provide enough details to allow us to find the ad in question. Ideally, you would copy/paste the ad itself, including the Display URL, into your email to the support team.

PS: I notice that you are new to this Forum, so thought I should probably mention that I work at Google, and am a part of the AdWords support team. ;)

I can vouch for AdWords rep that this review system generally works. I have had a few ads that have been reviewed and found to be 5 cents off! :p

I love this about Google. They actually trust us to put forth honest ads... they trust but verify! This way we get the huge benefit of reacting to market changes with our campaigns. I cant stress enough how important instant changes are. I can do A B testing on campaigns and get feedback in hours and conclusive results in a day or two depending on traffic volume. This allows me to find the best campaigns fast, and keep my campaigns on track. Compare that to Youhoo! where I get 5 days of editorial review and then wait another day or two for reporting data. Bottom line, I can make 7 marketing moves on Google for every 1 on Youhoo all becuase Google has placed trust in our business relationship.

The system seems to have a decent response to reports of wrong advertising.
