I do marketing for an internet based company and we are trying to increase traffic to our site. I was wondering if paying for the yahoo search marketing is even worth it? Are people getting a lot of clicks from this or would it be better just to spend more money on google keywords? Any advice is really appreciated. :D

that will vary, because of your industry and budget....but the fact that you're using adwords leads me to believe that you can manage the YSM campaign too :)
Honestly, my YSM traffic tends to be more controlled, a bit cheaper (depending on the industry, again), and higher ROI.
That's just me though :)

if you are doing well in AdWords it is worth dipping your toes in the water with Yahoo! too.

If you are willing to bid more to be within top 3 bids, its really worth. But, you should track your ROI.

You might want to wait to set up your account on Overture as it is a very time consuming process. I would hate for you to go through this pain when they have promised that this system (DTC) is going to be replaced by a fantasticly feature rich new one(s)... one that takes into account all of our input here at SEW.
Just ask anyone at YSM it will happen... soon... real soon...anytime in the near future, possibly this year... or perhaps next, but it will happen...really

so i wasn't mis-reading the Yahoo PPC signup page? they actually want me to pay a couple hundred bucks just to set up my account before they'll even let me begin giving them more money?
cheers

that is if you have them set up your account (chosing your keywords for you, etc...although their interests in how they choose terms may not be well aligned with your interests in making money from them)
if you know what you are doing with the ads you probably want the self serve option

I think it has a $30 minimum opening spend, which ends up converting to click credits. also there is a $20 monthly minimum click spend on Overture US. other local ones may have different local minimums as well.
