View Full Version : Strange proposition from SEO service provider...

A company called me and proposed me an attractive offer:

I pay them about $1500/ year to rank my site for 10 terms on 1st page of about 20 english search engines including majors.

Asking what they would do to my site, they answered they would use another URL that will directly point to my site. As I understood, they connect "fake" sites with lots of keywords to each others to make them rank on 1st page...and they proved me it works with many examples.

I find those methods are unacceptable and not ethical. And I was wondering if anybody knows if search engines may penalize such service provider and their customers? (For example, if I send an email about that to Yahoo!, telling who cheats...)

By the way, is there a name for such service?

Thx.

John

that sounds like doorway or gateway pages and perhaps a touch of cloaking.

those are often against the TOS of major search engines and often get sites penalized.

You aren't talking about Traffic Power are you? Because that is exactly what they are now offering (http://www.seoconsultants.com/traffic-power/news/promotion-system.asp) their old and new clients. That way when the sites get banned or penalized, it doesn't affect the clients site (How nice of them).

However this type of method holds one hostage to the company providing the traffic for when they stop paying the recurring fees, the traffic disappears and it provides no value whatsoever to the client's original site. If you want traffic in this way, better to go with pay per click. Otherwise STAY AWAY from any company offering to "direct traffic to your site from their own URL(s)"!
