Has anyone here tried Google image ads yet? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've seen them on Search Guild (http://www.searchguild.com/) (the 468x60 versions) but I have to admit they're pretty bad. I would personally prefer to serve a few text ads than one banner ad.

I don't think I want to try actually. I have just over a 10% click-through / conversion on my Adsense and that is great for me. I feel a single banner will limit the choice, thus dropping my excellent conversion rate. No way am I going near them.

Yep, I can definititly agree with that, and I have nowhere near a 10% conversion rate

Yep. Mine was around 5 - 6, though it increased seriously after I redesigned the site recently. Is now stable at just over 10. Google can take their image ads and keep them.

I used to run ValueClick banner ads to fill my unsold ad space on The Arizona Builders' Zone, a site I own and maintain and I made about $35 a year. Big whoop!

I converted over to Google text ads (not image) in December and am making $250 a month and they aren’t even located throughout the whole site.

I'm not going back to images - no way.

you guys are kinda daring Google to ban. I bet there is a greater than 0% chance at least one of their workers is monitoring this forum...

That's why I didn't discuss money Aaron. Conversion %'s, who cares, money........monthly amounts......nope. I'm hearing you, don't worry about that. I tread carefully on that topic. Each to their own.

Am sure Google doesn't want this type of post floating out there too prominently.

I think if things are done in the generic level they don't care... they let people discuss there campaigns in conference panels... they just don't want a bunch of people getting together and hard comparing numbers and working out the way the optimized algo works on the spending side!!!

when there is a bad deal to be had I find it, so you will notice no numbers in my post and I even xxx out other peoples #s when I quote them.

I remember one funny post on another board where a person said most of their details and a person quoted them stating that they should take their numbers out. The original person took their #s out but the quote left them in.

The move reminded me of words such as "navy" and "shipmate."

I haven't tried them yet, but I wouldn't anyway because the text ads get more clicks than images. Also, the text ads aren't flashy and intrusive like most image ads are, which make your site look a lot better.
