I am new to all of this i.e. Blogs, RSS and XML Feeds, but I have heard mentions of them a lot lately. I probably know the most about a blog. It can be used as a sort of online diary to continually post new content on current issues, etc. I really don't have any clue about RSS or XML Feeds. Can anyone help me out with some basic information?

I read in another posting how people use RSS feeds for their main source of news information. Do they gather this information from many blogs, or news articles? How do the three tie together? Or don't they?

Any information grately appreciated.

Thanks!

skigirl333,

Over the last couple of years I've generally had a hard time explaining RSS to people, until a few days ago when I read this article - Marketers See Opportunity as a Web Tool Gains Users (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/05/business/media/05adco.html).

It gives a great analogy of RSS being for the Internet what TIVO is for Television. Explaining it in these terms has made the concept easier for people to wrap their brains around.

A great resource with links to all things RSS and how XML relates to RSS can be found here: Rss Workshop Tutorial (http://www.rssgov.com/rssworkshop.html)

And LockerGnome.com (http://channels.lockergnome.com/rss/) is my favorite source for all things RSS.

Hope This Helps!
