If they allow sites to run Context Stream that are currently excluded from running AdSense, this could well be a viable alternative to AdSense for publishers, and get their foot in the door that way. And once they build up their brand power, more publishers may try them out.

It will be interesting to see if they offer it to publishers outside of the UK, because their site does appear to have products available to US-based sites as well.

And it is worth noting they do use the tried-and-true ad unit format that AdSense made famous ;)
