View Full Version : Indexing & PageRank

Hello!

I was curious as to the timeline in getting dynamic pages indexed and then having them receive PR. I have a general backend to create dynamic sites with some of the pages static and others (for my clients to create their own pages with whatever content they prefer to add) that have dynamic URL with a modrewrite on them.

Ex:
domain.com/About/default.aspx - static URL
domain.com/UniqueContent/default.aspx/PageID=1234

The pages got indexed very quickly once we had the modrewrite completed.

The PR is slow to be distrubuted. I have heard that it is inherently slow on dynamic sites but was wondering if there is some sort of rhyme or reason to it. The backend is completly the same for all sites yet on "some" sites the interior pages have PR... and on others they don't. Doesn't seem to be a reason. On all the examples that I am looking at they are all doing fabulous for search engines rankings. Their homepages do GREAT! Their interior pages show up if they have good content on them and change the interior meta tags for the specific page. All examples I am viewing have unique content and good backlinks with anchor text.

The modrewrite was completed in February. Before the modrewrite none of the unique 'create your own content' pages were indexed.

Any thoughts? Is it simply slow? Should I keep waiting to view?

Thanks for reading. ;)

You will just need to wait it out. PageRank updates take between 3 - 8 weeks on average to occur. Also, if you just changed your URLs the PageRank might not update the next update, it might take two updates.

Is there anyway to tell when the past updates have been? lol - How many have we been through?

many updates. in the past they tracked dances

which no loger occur in the same way since Google is a constant state of flux.

I think the 22nd of last month was the last big update

I saw that thread today in my research. They did stop tracking it because (as you said) they don't occur the same way. I do know we've seen several smaller updates I was just wishing I could remember when they happened... so I can track it and see when the PR has been changing on the pages.

If you come across anything else could you let me know? I guess I could hunt down specific 'update' threads on the forums! lol

when you find what you are looking for you should post a link to it so that other people who read this thread in the future find the info you just found.

Good point, SEOBook! Sorry about that! Although I didn't find it in one spot :( Had to look up all old threads from WebmasterWorld one by one. Here are some dates that I found on smaller updates of PR/Backlinks that started showing up in the database.

June 22
May 31
April 23
April 7
March 16
February 13 - Brandy
January 24 - Austin
December 22?

It looks like we've been through several updates although I know some links have changed on the sites I was watching... I will have to wait to see if anything changes in the future.

That may be when they *show us* that backlinks have been updated, but it's usually after the fact and as we've seen recently it isn't the most reliable information they're giving us.
