I am confused, because I type in this word (it is a company name) and i see the first link that shows up has a PR of lets say 5.. then the link after that is a 6, then a 6, then a 5, then 4, then a 6.. it just jumps around.
Is this because of content relevence?
thanks!

anchor text
KW density
who you link to
who links to you
size of your site
age of your site
age of your links
PR (maybe just a little)

Sorry I will edit my post it should read "anchor text"
If you still aren't sure what anchor text is here is a decent article:

It's not about the quanity but the quality. If you are a health site don't link to casino sites.
If I link out I try and only link out to sites that have my keywords in their title tags and on the pages.

Yep. Because PR doesn't determine rankings. It can't. Because rankings have to do with words and PR doesn't.
If PR was what determined rankings, then Google would be number 1 for any keyword!

Jill that reply is pretty lazy. Sorry but do you have something of use to say on this? When I saw you had posted I was actually interested in what you had to say.

Dominic, I'm sorry you didn't understand my answer. I will elaborate for you.
Many people (including the original poster) believe that pages will be ranked according to PageRank, in other words, they believe a PR7 page will always rank higher than a PR6 page, and a PR6 page will rank higher than a PR5 page and so on and so forth.
But of course this is incorrect, because everything is dependent upon the keyword phrase that is used in the search, and what keyword phrases any given page is "optimized" for. This is why I said that if pages were ranked according to PR, then Google would show up for everything because I believe it's a PR10.
PR is but one small part of Google's algorithm and it works in conjunction with hundreds of other factors. So it's perfectly understandable that for any given keyword search at Google, the results will not be ordered by PageRank. They never are, and never will be.
Is that better for you Dominic? :)
Well that makes a lot more sense to me Jill.
