Interesting redirect

I was checking the competition and came across a link at the bottom of the home page. It is the top industry keyword with the link as http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://theirdomainname/

when you click on the link the same page reloads...or if you click the copy on other pages it takes you to the homepage...

what is the value in this?

probably nothing other than more keyword rich text and confusing people into thinking that they are the top Google resource for that word.
